Veliancode Grama Panchayat is a body of elected representatives of the people to manage the administrative affairs of the Panchayat Raj institutions. Veliancode Grama Panchayat currently has 21 wards. As far as the Grama Panchayat is concerned, it is the main body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and carries out the day-to-day administration. History of Grama Panchayat

The socio-cultural history of Veliankode Grama Panchayat dates back to the Sangha period. This land, where Vasco da Gama is believed to have first anchored and where Tipu Sultan conducted his military campaign, has witnessed many historical government institutions. This village, which was known as 'Bilan Koothu' in the Arabian Peninsula, gained fame even in foreign countries through the presence of spiritual teacher Umar Qazi and social reformer Makti Thangal.
